Deep dive into finding local food spots from social media images

Have you ever seen a photo of a delicious meal or a unique café on social media, only to find the location wasn't tagged? Our new 'Find Local Food Spots' shortcut uses Apple Intelligence to solve this problem. It analyzes any image or screenshot to identify the business and opens its location directly in Apple Maps, turning inspiration into your next dining destination.

What's new

This release introduces a powerful new shortcut, Find Local Food Spots, that leverages on-device intelligence to identify businesses from your photos. Whether you're using a saved screenshot from Instagram or taking one in the moment, the shortcut analyzes visual cues like logos, signs, and any visible text to find the location. It then automatically opens the business in Apple Maps for you. Additionally, two companion shortcuts, Favorite Food Spots and Lookup Fav Food Spots, allow you to build and query a personal database of your favorite restaurants, complete with your own ratings.

Getting started

  1. Run the Find Local Food Spots shortcut from your Shortcuts library.
  2. When prompted, choose to either Take a Screenshot of the social media post on your screen or Choose from Photos to select a saved image.
  3. The shortcut will analyze the image and use your current location to narrow down the results.
  4. The identified business location will automatically open in Apple Maps, ready for you to get directions or save.
